Dr Anwei Feng’s visit to Yunnan, China 17 December - January 2012
Dr Anwei Feng has recently visited Yunnan, China where he delivered lectures and seminars on Intercultural Education, Bilingualism and Bilingual Education to hundreds of students and staff in five Universities and Colleges. Dr Feng already holds guest Professorships in Yunnan Normal University and Qujing Normal University and on this recent visit was also awarded a guest professorship in Southwest Forestry University. In addition to raising the profile of Bangor University, Anwei reports that a number of students and young academics expressed interest in pursuing their studies at Bangor. Read more ...

Education graduate scoops Pride of Britain award
Congratulations to Bangor University graduate Llew Davies, who has just scooped a Pride of Britain Award. The 29 year old, who graduated with a degree in Primary Education in 2004, is Deputy Headteacher at Ysgol Cae Top in Bangor, and last year won the UK Teacher of the Year Award. Read more ...
Successful Bid for National Welsh College (Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol) Grant (2012-2015)
Dr. Enlli Thomas (Education) and Dr. Peredur Davies (Linguistics) have been awarded a prestigious grant by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol (National Welsh College). The grant will enable our colleagues to write and publish an academic Welsh-medium textbook about bilingualism from a sociolinguistic and psycholinguistic viewpoint. The grant runs from 2012 to 2015; the textbook is scheduled to be published in 2015.

Bangor’s graduates - more satisfied than the average student
Students completing degrees at the University’s Schools of Education, Psychology, and Sport, Health & Exercise Sciences at the University were particularly satisfied with their experience, putting the Schools among the top in the UK in those subjects according to the student experience.Education was placed in top place in the UK according to student satisfaction, Psychology in 5th place and Sport Sciences in 10th place. In March 2011 Wales and England will have an opportunity to celebrate Religious Education. First Minister launches new North and Mid Wales Centre of Teacher Education

The First Minister of Wales, Rt. Hon Carwyn Jones, today (14 January 2011) launched the new North and Mid Wales Centre of Teacher Education.
The launch took place at the School of Education & Lifelong Learning at Bangor University, and over 150 staff, students and school mentors at Aberystwyth joined the launch via a live video link. There was also a live video link with the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales studio in Cardiff. Read more ...

It has been all smiles at Education since the results of the National Student Survey were published. The School of Education and Lifelong Learning, in the College of Arts, Education and Humanities was rated top out of 58 HEIs across the UK for student’s overall satisfaction on the Initial Teacher Training courses.
