PhD Studentship in Sustainable Energy Option Development (Business) - Welsh medium
Bangor Business School, in conjunction with the School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography, is offering a PhD studentship in the field of sustainable energy option development. The student will work closely with the ‘Green Innovation for Future Technologies’ project which aims to support the up-skilling of Welsh/Irish enterprises in order to advance the transition to a green economy by working with education, business and support agencies in key sectors. The PhD project will be of an interdisciplinary nature developing synergies between the Environmental Sciences and Business to promote the merging of environmental and business thinking to problem solving and strategic planning, in partnership with industrial and policy sectors.

The Wales DTC - 2 ESRC PhD Studentships
Bangor, Cardiff, Aberystwyth and Swansea Universities are partners in the new all-Wales Doctoral Training Centre (DTC), led by Cardiff University. The aim of this Centre is to train ESRC-funded PhD students across Wales on a range of issues affecting society today.
For the next four years, the all-Wales DTC will offer a certain number of PhD studentships each year.
For 2012, BBS is inviting applications for two studentship awards at +3 level (a three year PhD) in the area of Banking and Finance.

Preferred Candidate
We want to attract applications from candidates that achieved a first class honours degree at undergraduate level and obtained a masters’ qualification at distinction level.
For the first studentship we expect applicants to demonstrate a background in one of the following disciplines: economics, banking, finance, and accounting.
For the second studentship we expect applicants to demonstrate a background in one of the following disciplines: economics, and finance.

Bangor Business School operates two scholarship schemes, which provide financial support for full-time students on all MSc, MA and MBA programmes (find out more about our postgraduate programmes):
- BBS Gold Scholarship £5,000 per annum,
- BBS Silver Scholarship £2,000 per annum.
The number of Gold and Silver Scholarship awards vary from year to year, but normally a small number of Gold Scholarships and a larger number of Silver Scholarships are available. All students are entitled to apply for both types of Scholarships, however students will only receive one award. We do not consider country of origin when determining the recipients of Scholarship awards.
To be eligible to apply for a Scholarship, you must be applying for or have already been offered a place on one of the following taught postgraduate degree programmes:
- MA / MSc Banking and Finance
- MA / MSc Finance
- MA/ MSc Management and Finance
- MA/MSc Islamic Banking and Finance
- MA/MSc Business with Consumer Psychology
- MSc International Banking and Development Finance
- MSc Accounting and Finance
- MA Business and Marketing

- MBA Banking and Finance
- MBA Management
- MBA Banking and Law
- MBA Law and Management
All applicants will be advised by email of the outcome of their application for entry onto an academic programme. Applicants who have been made an offer of entry will receive the Scholarship Application Pack from the Bangor Business School in that same email message. Those who have not provided an email address on the application form will be contacted by letter. The Scholarship Application Pack will include:
- details of the gold and silver scholarship scheme
- details of how to apply
- a scholarship application form
Applicants are required to give details of their academic achievements, personal achievements and give their reasons for applying for a scholarship from the Bangor Business School. Scholarships will be awarded on the strength of applications received. Whilst academic achievement is a key criterion a broad view of each candidate's academic, work experience and life achievements will be considered. PLEASE NOTE: your application form will NOT be accepted without a CV.

UK / EU Full Tuition Fee Scholarships
This scholarship scheme provides financial support, equivalent to the tuition fee for UK / EU students, to highly qualified students on selected MSc and MA programmes at Bangor Business School.
To be eligible to be considered for a UK / EU Full Tuition Fee Scholarship, you must satisfy each of the following criteria:
- be classified as a UK / EU student for tuition-fee status purposes
- be awarded a BA/BSc degree within the three years prior to September 2008, with a classification of 2.1 or above (or equivalent from a non-UK university).
- enrol as a full-time student
- have been offered a place on one of the following Bangor Business School taught postgraduate degree programmes:
- MSc Accounting and Finance
- MA / MSc Banking and Finance
- MA / MSc Management and Finance
- MA Business and Marketing
- MA / MSc Finance
- MSc International Banking and Development Finance
- MA / MSc Islamic Banking and Finance
The number of scholarship awards varies from year to year, but it is anticipated that between five and ten awards will be made this year.
There are two deadlines for application:

This scholarship does not apply to any other Masters degrees offered wholly or jointly by Bangor Business School that appear in our brochures and on our webpages.
Loyalty fee reductions for Bangor graduates
If you're a Bangor University Alumni (either recent graduate or studied with us many years ago) then you're also eligible for a discount on your fees should you choose to study for your postgraduate qualification with the Bangor Business School. If you're an International applicant we'll give you an automatic discount of £1500 on your fees and a £1000 reduction on your fees if you're resident within the EU.
