CCP6 Workshop on the Dynamics of Open Quantum Systems

August 22-25, 2006 Bangor, Wales, UK

The workshop is designed to bring together researchers from a range of disciplines that span the broad subject of dissipative quantum systems. New approaches and formulations of quantum dissipation theory will be discussed along with a discussion of how dissipation affects key dynamical processes such as electron transfer and transport, surface dynamics, quantum control and non-adiabatic effects. As is now traditional in CCP6 workshops a short monograph based on the presentations will be published.

Invited speakers include:

Peter Hanggi (Universitaet Ausburg, Germany)
Eitan Geva (University of Michigan, USA)
Michael Thoss (Technical University of Munich, Germany)
Ruixue Xu (University of Science and Technology China)
Irene Burghardt (CNRS, France)
Ulrich Kleinekathofer (Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany)
Peter Saalfrank (Universitaet Potsdam, Germany)
Giovanni Ciccotti (University of Roma, Italy)
Eric Bittner (University of Houston, USA)
Klaus B. Moller (Technical University of Denmark)
Eran Rabani (Tel-Aviv University, Israel)
Joel Peguiron (University of Basel, Switzerland)

The CCP6 workshop will be hosted at the Centre for Advanced Software Technology (CAST) and accommodation will be provided by the University of Wales at Bangor, which is situated between the Snowdonia national park and the sea.

If you are a music lover then you may be interested to know that termination of the workshop coincides with the opening of the popular Brynfest. This is a major feature of the UK music calendar that consists of a weekend gala of open-air music by the world renowned baritone Bryn Terfel and other well known singers from both the opera and pop world. Local accommodation is very hard to come-by over this weekend. However, if you are interested in attending the festival the University will allow you to extend your stay in the University accommodation over the festival period at the regular rate of £26.50 per night. Please let me know if you are interested in taking up this offer.

Organisers:  Keith H. Hughes (keith.hughes@bangor.ac.uk)
