Science and Energy Schools Lectures June 12-13

The School of Chemistry at Bangor will be host to the RSC’s “Science and Energy” demonstration lectures in June held by Mr A. J. S. Williams and Dr J. A. Ballantine.  A most important feature of this event is that school pupils will carry out all of the experiments themselves.

The Royal Society of Chemistry assists with science education in schoolsand Mr A J S Williams, MBE, BSc, CChem, FRSC, devised this splendid demonstration-lecture about 16 years ago.  Since then it has been experienced by more than 50,000 pupils in South Wales, England and Scotland.  The School of Chemistry at Bangor is delighted to be hosting this event for the first time in North Wales.

The lecture discusses the interconversion of various forms of energy and is illustrated with interesting and colourful demonstrations in science that complement the primary Science syllabus, with a full bilingual synopsis of the material in the lecture available.  The lecture will be held predominantly for pupils in years 5 and 6 and they will be invited to come up on stage and carry out the experiments.

The lectures will be held at 10am each day, but prior booking is essential.
