With over 3000 students and 300 academic and administrative staff, the College consists of four academic schools and two research institutes:

The College, through the University, has formal links with the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, enabling an integrated approach to developing research, training, medical and healthcare education that will serve the needs of North Wales. The Health Board, the largest health organisation in Wales, employs around 18,000 staff providing services to around 676,000 residents in North Wales.

Although each School/Institute preserves its specific identity and subject integrity, the College fosters inter-school collaboration and shared academic goals and practices.

Our teaching is informed by world-class collaborative research – The College achieved an excellent set of results form the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. This means that students have the opportunity to study with academics who are at the cutting edge of their academic disciplines, whether that is elite sports performance, nurse training or fMRI brain imaging.

The College’s research capability is complemented by an excellent reputation in teaching and student support. The Schools of Healthcare Sciences, Psychology, and SHES are nationally known for providing high quality teaching in their respective fields.

SHES is regularly rated as one of the top 10 Sport Science Schools in the UK and in the most recent National Student Survey, 98% of SHES students were satisfied with the enthusiastic teaching on their course. SHES commitment to providing a sound research grounding to their courses was complimented by an external examiner who said "...students at Bangor University showed superior performance to those on similar programmes in the UK in final year project work."

The School of Psychology’s undergraduate courses are ranked in the top 5 in the UK for Student Satisfaction and have the highest possible Quality Assurance Agency ranking of “Excellent’. The department has been described by an external examiner as ‘producing some of the best psychology undergraduates in the UK’ and also boasts a top 10 ranking for its research.

The School of Healthcare Sciences combines the highest level of teaching with hands on experience and was ranked top in Wales in the most recent Guardian League table and 18th in the UK overall in the Complete University Guide 2012.
