ESPACOMP 2009

Publication date: 13/07/2009

IMSCaR's Deputy Director for the Centre for Economics and Policy in Health, Dr Dyfrig Hughes, is to be the President of the inaugural meeting of the European Society for Patient Adherence, COMpliance, and Persistence (ESPACOMP) which will be held on 10-11th September, 2009 at Bangor University.

The formation of the Society follows 12 successful annual symposia attended by adherence researchers, physicians, pharmacists, pharmacoepidemiologists, outcomes researchers, health economists, and statisticians from both academia and industry. Participants are those interested in ambulatory patients' adherence to, and persistence with, prescribed drug dosing regimens.

The meeting has been organised since 1996 by a network of scientists active in the field of patient adherence, and especially interested in reliable methods of compiling drug dosing histories in ambulatory patients.

Details for this year's event can be found at www.espacomp.eu and a flyer can be downloaded at ESPACOMP flyer.pdf.

This year's meeting will see the launch of the Society, and a new 1½ day format that will include presentations from distinguished invited speakers and a consensus workshop on terminology.

Contributions are welcome from anyone wishing to present their latest adherence related work at ESPACOMP 2009. The abstract submission deadline is July 1st for oral presentations and August 1st for poster presentations. Accepted abstracts will be published on the website.

All the latest information on ESPACOMP 2009 can be found on our website (www.ESPACOMP.eu), which will be updated continuously in the build-up to the meeting. If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact the conference organisers on info@ESPACOMP.eu.
