Application Procedures
It is a requirement of Bangor University that all candidates must complete
a University application form when applying for a post that is advertised.
An application form can be downloaded for you to complete fully by clicking
on the links above (available in MS Word or PDF format). To view the PDF
application form you will need Acrobat Reader which is available to download
free from www.adobe.com
and it will enable you to view and print Adobe Portable Document Format
(PDF) files.
Please return this form (along with any other document you may wish to
submit e.g. CV / covering letter) to Human Resources by no later than
the closing date in the appropriate advertisement:

e-mail: personnel@bangor.ac.uk
Short-listed candidates are normally informed within three weeks of the
closing date when interviews are to be held and successful candidates
offered a post immediately after the interview where possible. Priority
will be given to University staff who may be seeking redeployment.
Due to the amount of applications usually received in Human Resources,
and in order to keep administration costs down to a minimum, it is no
longer a policy of the University to inform candidates who have been unsuccessful
in their applications. Anyone applying for a position should therefore
assume that they have been unsuccessful if they have not heard from us
within 6 weeks of the closing date.
The University is a Registered User under the Data Protection Act 1998.
It will only use the personal information provided by yourself in your
application form and CV to process your application for the post for which
you have applied. All information will be held confidentially, and will
only be made available to those involved in the Selection Process.
The Equal Opportunities Data you have provided will be processed separately,
and in an anonymous format will only be used for general University wide
monitoring purposes; it will not be released to any person involved in
the Selection Process for any position in the University.
Under the University's Equal Opportunities Policy all papers relevant
to the appointment process will be kept by the University for a period
of 12 months, and anyone who believes that their application has been
subject to unfair discrimination, should write to me detailing the nature
of the complaint.
Bilingual Policy
The University recognises that it has a commitment to enrich the life
of the bilingual and bi-cultural society in which it is located. It has
therefore developed a clearly stated bilingual policy with regard to the
official use of Welsh and English while courses through the medium of
Welsh are provided to degree level in a number of subjects. As at other
Universities, members of staff are encouraged to take an active interest
in the life and culture of the region in which they work. Applicants should
appreciate and seek to understand the special nature of Welsh life and
culture. Furthermore, the University will, in view of its tradition and
location, expect an appointee to work positively within a bi-cultural
and bilingual environment and questions to establish this are asked at
interviews.
Facilities for learning Welsh are available and every encouragement will
be given to those who wish to avail themselves of these.
Thank you for your interest in the University.
Yours sincerely
Lyn Meadows
Director of Human Resources
