School of Creative Studies and Media

Research at the School of Creative Studies and Media

Welcome to the research pages of the School of Creative Studies and Media (SCSM). You will find that we are inter-disciplinary, collaborative, creative and critical.

Our key strengths are the work of our staff in digital culture; media and persuasive communication; and creative theory and practice (practice-as-research).

To get a fuller flavour of what we do, have a look at our research projects, knowledge transfer projects, conferences, journal and editorial boards, and research degrees.

In the forthcoming REF (2014) we are part of a larger submission to Sub-panel 35: Music, Drama, Dance and Performing Arts, jointly with the School of Music. In the last RAE (2008) when the School was only a few years old, members of the School at Bangor were entered into UoA57 English Language and Literature which achieved 15% at the top 4* level and 30% at the 3* level; and UoA 50 European Studies, which achieved 5% at the top 4* level and 20% at the 3* level. Since then, new faculty appointments have been made, strengthening the School’s research culture still further.

We have a thriving and friendly research culture. Our weekly research series, Trans(formations), features Bangor colleagues, postgraduate students, and researchers and practitioners from across the UK and beyond in a supportive, if critical, environment.
