Welcome to the research pages of the School of Creative Studies and Media (SCSM). You will find that we are inter-disciplinary, collaborative, creative and critical.

Our key strengths are the work of our staff in digital culture; political communication and cultural politics; cultural and creative knowledge and economy; and practice-as-research.

To get a fuller flavour of what we do, have a look at our research projects, knowledge transfer projects, conferences, journal and editorial boards, and research degrees.

We look forward to making our first submission to Sub-panel 36: Communication, Cultural and Media Studies, Library and Information Management in the forthcoming REF (2014). In the last RAE (2008) when the School was only a few years old, members of the School at Bangor were entered into UoA57 English Language and Literature which achieved 15% at the top 4* level and 30% at the 3* level; and UoA 50 European Studies, which achieved 5% at the top 4* level and 20% at the 3* level. Since then, new faculty appointments have been made, strengthening the School’s research culture still further.

We have a thriving and friendly research culture. Our weekly research series, Trans(formations), features Bangor colleagues, postgraduate students, and researchers and practitioners from across the UK and beyond in a supportive, if critical, environment.
