Justin graduated in 1998 from the University of Dublin with a B.Sc (Hons) in Applied Sciences (Physics & Chemistry). From 1998-2000 completed a M.Phil at the Dublin Institute of Technology, researching organic materials for holographic recording. He spent part of 1999 as a visiting researcher in the University of Liege in Belgium. Received a PhD from the University of St. Andrews in 2004 for work on optical amplification and lasing in conjugated polymers and novel semiconducting dendrimers and fabrication of wavelength scale microstructure by soft lithography. From 2004-2006 he was a Research Assistant Professor in the Foulger Group at Clemson University, South Carolina, U.S.A researching tuneable organic photonic crystals and novel colloid-based materials for organic LEDs. He moved to the Bangor University School of Electronic Engineering as a lecturer in 2006.
Justin's research focuses on organic optoelectronics devices such as lasers and LEDs.
