How will I learn?
You will have a combination of School and practice
placement based learning opportunities, with both elements of the course
being compulsory. You will undertake a variety of placements during
the 3 years in hospitals, community and/or residential settings in the
North Wales area. Students on certain branches may have the opportunity
to travel out of North Wales for a placement, and whilst placements
are organised as close as possible to the home address, some travel
to placements will be necessary. You will begin by observing professionals
at work and you will be expected to participate in the delivery of nursing
care from very early on in the course, under supervision, in order to
develop your own skills and competence. You will also complete a variety
of course work assignments. You will be supervised by a personal tutor,
who is also a registered nurse and you will receive mentorship supervision
whilst on placements from practising nurses.
Theoretical and practical work will be assessed through
assignments, examination, and portfolio development. Your placements
will also be assessed, with an emphasis on the development of your practical
skills and competence.
