Careers for Graduates

The great strength of a History degree is its intellectual breadth and flexibility which makes it attractive to almost any employer who wants analytical and lateral thinkers who can adapt to any work in almost any intellectual environment. There is nothing to be lost by studying history and a great deal to be gained. It is worth remembering that more specialised and vocational degrees are much more subject to market demand, and much less marketable outside their own subject area.

While studying within the School of History & Welsh History at Bangor, you will develop valuable transferable skills such as

  • efficient information gathering
  • critical analysis of evidence
  • judgement between competing interpretations
  • oral and written presentation
  • clarity of expression and familiarity with Information Technology

A degree incorporating Archaeology or Heritage will also train you to have a practical turn of mind which is attractive to many employers.
