CANOE TRIP

During the summer a group of 12 Bangor University staff and family members set out to paddle for 2 hours from the Conway Centre at Plas Newydd to Bangor Pier, raising money from sponsorship for the Ty Gobaith children’s hospice in Conwy.

Over the past 18 months our efforts have enabled over £7000 to be handed to Ty Gobaith. The monies raised from this event will be combined with donations from our 2011 weight loss challenge and a staff lottery that will be handed over to the local Ty Gobaith funding raising coordinator on Thursday July 28th.

We are very grateful for the support for the canoe event that was given by Sally Ward, a member of the Conway Centre staff who lead the event and looked after our health and safety. Tim Jepson, an experienced canoeist and senior education lecturer joined us and worked in partnership with Sally to supervise the event. Thanks are also extended to ‘Posturite’ who generously funded the hire of canoes, our safety protective clothing and transport back to the Conway Center from Bangor Pier.

Further information on this event and others are on the Gobaith website.
