International Student Opportunities at Bangor

Before Travelling - your checklist

Before you travel to Bangor you must ensure that you have;

  • Obtained the necessary visas and entry clearance documents
  • Made arrangements with your bank to be able to access your money in the UK
  • You have enough money in travellers' cheques to last a month as it may take longer than expected to open a bank account and to transfer funds to the UK .
  • If necessary, you have taken out private medical insurance. For further information please see the section on Student Health Care.

Travelling to the UK

Because of our long experience of working with international students we appreciate that leaving your home country and travelling to the UK for the first time can be challenging.  We therefore make every effort to ensure that the experience is a pleasant and memorable one.  For more information on coming to us and on our meeting service please visit our Travelling to Bangor page.

EEA-Nationals

As an EEA-NATIONALS you and your dependants are free to enter the UK and have the right of residence for the duration of your course.

When Travelling

Carry, in your hand luggage, all the documents that the Immigration Officer will want to check.

Students from members of the European Economic Area:

  • Passport or National Identity Card

Non-Visa Nationals:

  • Passport or official travel document
  • Entry Clearance Certificate (if applicable)
  • Letter of acceptance from the University or UCAS letter AS12 if undergraduate Evidence of financial support (e.g. bank statements)
  • Letter from sponsor (if applicable)

Visa Nationals:

  • Passport (or official travel document)
  • Visa (stamped into passport)
  • Letter of acceptance from the University or UCAS letter AS12 if undergraduate
  • Evidence of financial support (e.g. bank statements)
  • Letter from sponsor (if applicable)

Bring enough cash to pay for your travel to Bangor and any other immediate needs.

You are also advised to have enough money in travellers' cheques to last 2-3 weeks (approximately £200) as it may take longer than expected to open a bank account and to transfer funds to the UK.
