Computer Recycling & Disposal Policy

In order to comply with requirements in the areas of information security, data protection, electronic waste disposal etc., IT Services have drawn up a "Policy for the Re-use and Disposal of Computers, other IT Equipment and Data Storage Media". This has been scrutinised by the appropriate Task Groups and legal advisers and also by the auditors. The policy formalises a process that has largely been in operation for some time and to which most departments adhere. There are some requirements in relation to transferring usable equipment to new owners as well as details of the need for equipment to be disposed of properly at the end of its life.
