When should I visit the IT Advisory Desk ?
The IT Advisory Desk is the 'front of house' desk for the HelpDesk staff and other IT support staff within IT Services.
If you are a member of staff then you may find that dropping in to the Advisory desk is a convenient way to resolve your problem if you are passing or working near to the Deiniol Building. However, if your request is related to your computer or other equipment in your office, or you'd simply prefer us to visit you, then it is more likely that we will come to your office to resolve your request.
However if you are a student, and your problem is not related to a network connection in your University accommodation (via ResNet) you may find that visiting the Advisory Desk is the simplest and quickest way to resolve your problem. It allows you to talk face to face with one of our experts, demonstrate the 'problem' to them and for the Advisor to then resolve the problem, or to provide another of our colleagues with details which will help them resolve your problem for you.
If your question or support request cannot be resolved 'on the spot' then it will be recorded in the HelpDesk system and one of our staff will contact you to resolve the problem. If you have a mobile phone then please leave that number with the Advisor so that we can contact you easily.
Please note that the Advisory desk is there to provide solutions to 'single incident' support requests and does not provide training in software or hardware use. We do however provide a wide range of training courses to all University staff and students.
Where are we?
We are based in Deiniol Building (the main Science Library and IT Services building on Deiniol Road in lower Bangor), Room 038.
As you enter the Deiniol Building, proceed past the Library Issue Desk, past the 'Coffee area' and the IT Advisory Desk is situated nearby.
When are we open?
We are open from 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday during term times.
