Dewi Llyr Jones was awarded the Ceridwen Griffiths prize in arts and went on to study the LL.B course in Law and Welsh at the University of Wales, Cardiff, Law School. He graduated with honours in 2003, the first person to do so anywhere in Wales.
During the 2003-04 academic year he was awarded a scholarship from the Celia Thomas fund to study a postgraduate course at the School of Welsh, University of Wales, Cardiff, and he completed a taught MA course with the research essay on 'Legal Welsh in the Modern Wales: various aspects', concentrating on high street solicitors' use of Welsh and on the office of the Attorney General, the National Assembly for Wales' use of Welsh.
During the 2003-04 academic year, he also taught undergraduate students at Cardiff Law School. He was appointed as Welsh Medium Teaching Fellow at the Law Department, Bangor, in summer 2004 and appointed as a Lecturer in Law in Spring 2008.
His main interests are public law, especially the various aspects of devolution, the legal status of the Welsh language, and Welsh legal history.
