Grundtvig II Doing 2 Learn 2008 -2010

This is a two year EU/ Grundtvig Multilateral Project working with partners in Slovakia, Romania, Finland, Italy and Germany. The project aims to promote and develop older people's capacity to continue working and learning for as long as they want and to make an active contribution once they retire. Learners will be co-producing learning materials. This is increasingly important as Europe attempts to deal with an ageing population.

Research to Support Sector Skills Equality Fund 2008

The first stage of this project is a scoping exercise on the research currently available related to gender, disability and BME issues in the Welsh workforce. The second stage will involve running focus groups with employers and representatives from several sector skills councils to help identify and understand the real and perceived barriers to employers engaging and developing employees from these under-represented groups. This project is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government through Chwarae Teg.  The following staff are working on the project.

WLPAN on the Web

In co-operation with the North Wales Welsh for Adults Centre, we are working on a project to prepare web-based interactive resources to accompany Cwrs Wlpan y Gogledd, the intensive conversational Welsh course for beginners which is delivered in our Welsh for Adults classes across North Wales.

The main aim of the resources will be to give learners the opportunity to revise and practise the material that they have covered in class. The resources will also help anyone who has had to miss a class to catch up with the work.

The activities will include visual and audio tasks, vocabulary tests and video clips.

The resources should be ready to be used for the first time by students joining Welsh language classes in January 2009.

This work is being carried out in partnership with learncymraeg.org

There’s More to Learning than Earning: The Wider benefits of Lifelong Learning 2007 - 2008

This research project will consider the wider benefits of learning, specifically in respect of Lifelong Learning.  The main issues will focus around social benefits and social capital, motivation and barriers to learning. It will critically evaluate how learning impacts on the individual and what new challenges these present to Lifelong Learning providers and policy makers in order to contribute to social inclusion, widening participation and the promotion of  Lifelong Learning benefits for all.

This project has funding from FACE (Forum for Access and Continuing Education)
