We are delighted to invite you to our St David’s Day Business Leaders Lunch at the Management Centre, Bangor University on Thursday 1st March 2012. Our guest speakers are Phil Ryan, Managing Director, The Management Centre and Dr Barrie Kennard, Director, Leadership & Management Wales. The topic is ‘Leading Business into Economic Growth.’

The lunch starts at 12 noon for registration and drinks/sit down 2 course luncheon in the Brasserie 1884 at The Management Centre.

About the Speakers

Phil Ryan, Managing Director, The Management Centre

Phil Ryan joined the team at The Management Centre in July 2010 to oversee the day-to-day running; the development of the product offering and to provide operational leadership to the Directors. He helped to launch the hugely successful Chartered Banker MBA TM (CBMBA) where he continues to act as Programme Director. He became Managing Director in May 2011. Phil's background includes over twenty years experience in the Financial Services Industry in Strategic, Retail and Business Banking roles for the Lloyds Banking Group. His roles included several senior positions in Wales and Shropshire. He achieved his Associateship for the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) in 1986 and then went on to complete an MBA with the Open University.

Dr Barrie Kennard, Director, Leadership & Management Wales

Dr Barrie Kennard is the Director for Leadership & Management Wales, the centre for excellence for leadership and management skills funded by the Welsh Government and European Social Fund. His role includes the development of an evaluation framework for leadership and management development programmes. Leadership & Management Wales is based in Cardiff Business School where Barrie holds an academic post of lecturer. He co-authored the HEFCW report on Higher Level Skills Development in Wales. Recently he has delivered several addresses including a keynote speech at the University Vocational Awards Council Annual Conference in York and a series of workshops at the National Training Federation Wales Conference in Newport. In 2009 he wrote a Masters and Foundation Degree in Applied Professional Practice for the University of Wales Institute Cardiff. Barrie has designed and is delivering the current Foundation Programme for Knowledge Transfer Professionals.
