The world comes to Bangor!
In the Spring semester the School of Music, in collaboration with the Centre for Performance Reasearch, University of Aberystwyth and Samba Bangor, is hosting a series of exciting weekend workshops led by renowned master musicians and teachers from a number of world music cultures. On March 1st & 2nd Grzegorz Bral of Teatr Piesn Kozla (Poland) will be leading a two-day workshop on 'Song, dance, rhythm, movement, gesture and the spoken word', drawing on songs and dances from Eastern Europe. On April 5th & 6th Giba Goncalves, from Bahia in Brazil, will be shaking the foundations with a Samba Reggae intensive. Finally on May 17th & 18th Doreen Thobekile, originally from South Africa and now a singer and dancer with Transglobal Underground, will be leading what promises to be a vibrant and colourful weekend of Zulu singing. In response to popular demand, a further series of workshops is planned for the Autumn term!
