Graduation Week at Bangor University.

Twelve individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and professions will be joining Bangor University's newest graduates to receive Honorary Fellowships at various degree Congregations at Bangor University this week (14-18 July 08).

"We look forward to welcoming these successful individuals to the University to receive their Fellowship, our mark of recognition for their achievement and contribution in their chosen fields.

We hope that they will serve as inspiration to our graduating students. We look forward to a continuing relationship between the Honorary Fellows and the University," said University Vice-Chancellor Professor Merfyn Jones.

Those to receive Honorary Fellowships are:

Monday 14 3.00 ceremony:
Television presenter Griff Rhys Jones, Peter Bennet-Jones, Chair of Tiger Aspect Television, rock climber and travel writer, Jim Perrin, and retired Presbyterian Minister and author, Rev Elfed ap Nefydd Roberts

Tuesday 15 11.00 Ceremony:
Guto Harri, the former BBC correspondent, who is now Communications Director for Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, journalist and broadcaster Gwilym Owen and actor and playwright Meic Povey, Television weather presenter Sian Lloyd - 3.00

Wednesday 16 11.00 ceremony.
Juan Carlos Castilla, Professor of Marine Ecology, Chile (Intends to be accompanied by daughter who was born in Bangor while Professor Castilla was studying at the School of Ocean Sciences).

Thursday 17 11.00 ceremony.
Appeal Court Judge, The Rt Hon Lord Justice John Thomas and renowned pianist Llŷr Williams

Friday 18 11.00 ceremony:
Assembly Minister Rhodri Glyn Thomas A.M.

The University also awards Teaching Fellowships to staff nominated by their peers and students and who have shown outstanding contribution to teaching and pastoral care of students. Seven are to be awarded this year.
