Overview
The research record of the School has been one of remarkable growth and achievement over the past dozen years or so. The RAE 2008 panel for Psychology noted highlighted international excellent and world leading research activity in the School of Psychology, and praised the School's integrated and highly collaborative research activity. Over the lastest RAE period (2001-2008) over 800 journal articles have been published, academic staff numbers have increased form 27 to 39, external grant capture has increased from £11m to over £18m, and significant infra structure developments such as a new building and an MRI centre have been completed.
The exceptional growth and success of the School of Psychology has been driven in large part by a cohesive research strategy to recruit world-leading researchers. A central objective of the School is to establish international excellence in targeted domains of research. Developing these areas to the highest possible standard in turn serves to generate new focused research domains of quality.
