At the end of 2007, the Institute of Chartered
Foresters completed its periodic review of courses of relevance to the forestry and arboriculture
professions in the UK. The School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography is delighted to be able to announce that
the following postgraduate courses have been accredited as completely satisfying the
educational requirements of the Institute's Professional Membership Entry (PME) process.
Students graduating with the following awards will therefore only require a minimum of
two years' relevant work experience before submitting for chartered status through the
ICF's PME examination.
Full-time postgraduate taught courses
In addition to the fully accredited postgraduate courses listed above, the following additional postgraduate
taught courses have partial accreditation; that is they are recognised as
contributing towards the educational requirements of the Institute's Professional Membership
Entry (PME) process However, students graduating with one of these partially accredited awards
will require more than two years of relevant work experience, or additional recognised educatational qualifications,
before submitting for chartered status.
Note: assuming no other qualifying educational attainment, the minimum required length of relevant work
experience required by the ICF is indicated in parentheses in the table below.
Full-time postgraduate taught courses
We continue to encourage interested students who are registered on our accredited courses to apply for student membership of the
ICF in order to network
with professional foresters and to start to strengthen their individual curriculum vitae.
