School of Environment, Natural Resources and Geography

Partners & Collaborators

Bangor has one of the UK’s largest concentrations of state and private sector organisations working in the rural environment. It is the location of the headquarters of the Countryside Council for Wales, as well as the regional offices of the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Welsh Water and the Environment Agency.

A strong feature of our programme is that the school offers a joint award Ph.D programme with a research and higher education institute based in Costa Rica - CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center), for students from the European Union or countries linked with CATIE. This programme gives the opportunity to study topics ranging from agroforestry, forestry, conservation and natural resource management in Central and Latin America.

The School has excellent links with these and other organisations including the Forestry Commission, Natural England, the Snowdonia National Park Authority, the Department for International Development and the Society for Conservation Biology. Some of these organisations contribute to teaching; others provide placements for our sandwich degree students or fund research activity within the School.

By special arrangement, we can establish dual award research degrees with universities and institutes outside of the United Kingdom.

Staff from SENRGY work with a wide range of partners, from local organisations through to UK, European and international institutions.
