The undergraduate bursaries scheme for current students in 2010/11 includes the bursaries listed below. Please note:
- Bursaries will only be available to full-time, undergraduate students who started their first year of higher education on or after 1 September 2007, and registered and in attendance 14 days prior to the particular bursary payment date.
- Students in receipt of other bursary payments (e.g. NHS, Health & Social Care Council) will not be eligible for the bursaries scheme.
- Bursary payments will be administered and distributed by the Student Loans Company (SLC) on behalf of the University. You must have completed the Local Authority assessment form (PN1/PR1) to be eligible for a bursary. In addition, you must have given your consent on this form, for your information to be shared with SLC.

Bangor Bursaries
The Bangor Bursary aims to provide additional support for those from lower income families. The Bangor Bursary is only available to UK students – the amount you receive will depend on your household income:
- Students with a household income of less than £18,370 will be eligible for the £1,000 Bangor Bursary
- Students with a household income of between £18,370 and £39,793 will be eligible for the £500 Bangor Bursary

Start Up Bursaries
Start Up Bursaries of £1000 are available for those students who are entering the University from care. The Start Up Bursaries are intended to cover course related costs such as books, equipment, travel and study aids. These are one-off, non repayable bursaries which will be paid in the first year only. The Start Up Bursaries will be paid from the 29th October 2010.
Students entering the University from care will need to make Wendy Williams, the Care Leavers Adviser at the Money Support Unit in Student Services aware of this, so that the bursary payment can be made. Contact Wendy on 01248 383637 or email wendy.williams@bangor.ac.uk

Subject Specific Bursary
Subject Specific Bursaries are not available to new students starting their studies in the academic year 2010/11.
Students continuing their studies who entered the University in the academic years 2007/08, 2008/09, or 2009/10 will continue to be eligible for the subject specific bursaries in the following Academic Schools: Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Law, Modern Languages.
Students following a single honours programme within these Academic Schools will be eligible for the £500 Subject Specific Bursary. Those following a joint honours programme within these Academic Schools will be eligible for the £250 Subject Specific Bursary.

Welsh Medium Bursary
Welsh medium bursaries are available to students who study all or part of their degree programme through the medium of Welsh:
- Students following their entire degree programme through the medium of Welsh will be eligible for the £500 Welsh Medium Bursary.
- Students following part of their degree programme (40 credits or more) through the medium of Welsh will be eligible for the £250 Welsh Medium Bursary.
