Mature student Karen Johnson is celebrating her decision to return to education, following her graduation with a First Class Honours Law degree from Bangor University.
Despite having a successful career, Karen decided the time was right to pursue her lifelong dream of studying law. She said, “As a mature student, I already had quite a successful career, so the decision to give up my salaried position was quite a big one, but I decided that it was time to do something that I had always wanted to do, and so I began the law degree at Bangor.
“I continued to work in a managerial role throughout my time at Bangor. Whilst this wasn’t easy this was a necessity for me and the lecturers were very accommodating and supportive.”
Karen has enjoyed her time at Bangor and hopes to study for a Masters degree in September. She added, “Bangor has been a great place to study; there is a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere within the department; the Lecturers and other staff are all very approachable and helpful. The course was not easy at times but the sense of achievement now that it is all done was well worth it.”
