City Centre…
When it comes to shopping, Bangor has something to suit every taste and pocket. It has the best of both worlds, a historic atmosphere on one hand and modern shopping centres on the other. Bangor boasts the longest High Street in Wales, which is only a few minutes walk from all our Halls of Residence. There’s a good mix of national chain stores and smaller local businesses.
A stylish new develpment called the Menai Centre in the city center means that there's now even more places to shop in Bangor. The 180,000 square foot centre will be home to 23 new stores.
You won’t have to go out of Bangor to find what you need, be it a book, new clothes a musical instrument or even a goldfish.
Upper Bangor…
But if it’s a pint of milk or a bunch of flowers you want you won’t have to leave Upper Bangor. There you’ll find a music shop, hairdressers, chemist, bakery, launderette, newsagents, Dimensions health shop and more.
Shopping for food…
Bangor has a good choice of Supermarkets with Morrisons in Upper Bangor, Iceland, Aldi’s and Lidl in the city centre. There’s also a 24 hour Tesco on Caernarfon Road. But if you prefer to get your food from smaller local businesses there’s a butcher shop, a number of bakeries and a health shop to suit your needs.

Retail Park...
A few minutes outside the City Centre on Caernarfon Road you’ll find the new St David’s Retail Park with Matalan, PC World and JJB Sports. Also on that road there’s a host of DIY and Furniture shops, Argos Extra and Next.
