Background…
My name is Gulnara Ismankulova and I’m from Kazakhstan. I’m currently studying a PhD in Health Studies at Bangor University.
The International Student Ambassador Scheme…
I view the International Student Ambassador Scheme as a networking opportunity, which could be beneficial both for current and prospective students.
Why become involved?
When you are coming in to a new country as a student and experiencing a new culture, all sorts of challenges and situations may arise and nobody finds it easy. My hope is that through this scheme there will be an opportunities to provide students with peer support and positive affirmation to make their transition to University life a more balanced one.
Why Bangor?
I chose Bangor for the opportunity to do academic research in the area of my interest, the opportunity that I have long been looking for.
Best thing about Bangor…
The best things about Bangor are that it is safe, clean and compact. Whilst these qualities can be seen as relative, the things that are absolutely unique about Bangor are its cultural background and the Welsh language.
The future…
As maybe the majority in the business of advancing science, my hopes are to excel in the area of my research and make an impact in the community.
