My name is Molly Harper and I come from Iowa in the United States. I just completed my Bachelors Degree in Psychology and will be working toward a Masters in Clinical Neuropsychology at Bangor this year.
Why Bangor?
During my last year as an undergraduate student I studied abroad in Bangor for 3 ½ months. I had such a great experience that I couldn’t wait to come back!
Why did you get involved in the International Student Ambassador scheme?
Having previously been an international at Bangor University, I distinctly recall the dedication on behalf of the International department in welcoming new students and ensuring their integration into student life. It was something I greatly appreciated and I know it is something others will continue to appreciate. It is my way of giving back and saying thank you.
What are your duties as an Ambassador?
Our main goals are to facilitate an open atmosphere in which new students can ask questions relating to their time in Bangor, plan and organize events in which students old and new can come together and get to know each other better, as well as promoting the university in countries all across the world.
How do you hope to help students at Bangor?
I hope to lend a hand in generating a community in which International students can rely on each other for help, support, and friendship. The best thing one can have is a strong network of people.
What is the best thing about Bangor?
Bangor has a very homely feeling to it. The University is situated in a safe community filled with the nicest people you could hope to find.
What advice do you have prospective international students?
Take advantage of the resources Bangor University provides. And have fun! Find a balance between fulfilling academic expectations and participating in activities beyond the classroom (for a good place to start, check out Serendipity during Freshers’ Week).
What are you hoping to do in the future?
I would eventually like to study toward my PhD and encourage others to take the opportunity to travel abroad.
