Write better, write now
The Study Skills Centre offers individual appointments that enable you to meet individually with a member of staff to discuss your academic writing. With deadlines looming, there is no better time than now to ask the kind of questions about your writing that perhaps until now you’ve not asked, and to talk through a draft before handing it in.
Our one-to-one meetings are led by yourself and facilitated by members of our team of Study Advisers and Peer Writing Mentors, and can be scheduled for anything up to fifty minutes. The Mentors have the benefit of first-hand experience of writing assessed work and have been trained in working alongside writers from across the disciplines, as well as in approaches aimed at enabling you to jump-start your writing and to become a better writer.
We work alongside undergraduate, and postgraduate masters and research students, and with students who attain all manner of grades. So if you’ve thought about talking through your writing, but haven’t yet taken the step, here’s your invitation. You can use your appointment to:
- discuss assignment guidelines and questions;
- develop an initial response to the question;
- explore your writing process;
- consider how to shape or re-organise your ideas;
- focus on how you’re using reading material;
- fine-tune your sentences and wording.
To arrange a meeting with a member of our team, book online at http://studyskills.bangor.ac.uk/writing-appointment-form.php.en or pop along to the Rathbone Reception to find out what’s available.
