This is the first Welsh-language volume of theology to be published for a number of years. It argues that there is a natural movement from systematic theology to practical theology by demonstrating that theology contributes to and draws from public debate in fields such as politics, ethics, the world religions, fundamentalism and culture. The book offers both a critical evaluation of major work already published in each field while also offering a contribution to the debate. Some of the themes have not previously been treated in Welsh, including fundamentalism and the dominance of imagery in contemporary culture. Each essay could be read separately, but there is also an underlying thesis that if theology seeks a place in the public realm, then it has to engage with contemporary rebates. But theology will only engage properly when it is truly theological. The book contributes to ongoing debates on the nature of practical theology and the role of religion in public life.
