2008 has already brought excellent news for students following MA schemes within the School of Welsh at Bangor University.
According to Professor Gerwyn Wiliams, Head of Welsh at Bangor: “This has proved to be an exceptional class, were it only for the fact that all five postgraduate students have gained their MA with Distinction. The range of subjects discussed within the individual dissertations suggests the wealth and variety of research fields being explored within the School of
Welsh.”
Anna Michelle Davies, ‘The television plays of Meic Povey’.
Non Meleri Hughes, ‘A study of postmodernism and Marxism in the novels of Wiliam Owen Roberts’.
Bryn Jones, ‘“Ymrauaelion awdurion”: some of the sources of Cronicl Elis Gruffydd’.
Gwen Saunders Jones, ‘“Ai gyrfa megis Gwerfyl”: Gwerful Mechain and some contemporary women poets’.
Ifan Morgan Jones, ‘Igam Ogam: a volume of creative writing’.
Anna Michelle Davies, Non Meleri Hughes and Gwen Saunders Jones are now working towards their PhD within the School of Welsh and Ifan Morgan Jones – who followed the MA scheme on a part-time basis – is working as Deputy Editor for the Welsh current affairs magazine Golwg.
More information about MA, MPhil and PhD schemes available within the School of Welsh, on both a part-time and full-time basis, can be provided by Professor Gerwyn Wiliams.
