Leading Welsh dramatist, Aled Jones Williams, was recently invited to lead a seminar organised Bangor University’s School of Welsh.
His discussion focused on his own plays and was of specific relevance to those students in their second and third year following the module on modern Welsh theatre. Among the plays under discussion was Be O’dd Enw Ci Tintin? as well as Sundance, Lysh and Ta-ra Teresa. He also referred to his fictional works, namely Rhaid iti Fyned y Daith Honno dy Hun ac Ychydig Is Na’r Angylion, and the long poem for which he was awarded the National Eisteddfod Crown in 2002.
In August 2008, his latest play, Iesu (‘Jesus’), will be performed by Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru (the national Welsh language touring theatre company) during the Cardiff National Eisteddfod.

Two Dramatists: Aled Jones Williams and William R. Lewis
Having graduated in Welsh at Bangor in 1977, this was an opportunity to welcome Aled Jones Williams back to his alma mater.
Last month, another of Wales’s contemporary dramatists and former Bangor student, Dafydd Llewelyn, led a practical session on scriptwriting for first year students. As a producer on BBC Wales’s long-running soap opera, Pobol y Cwm, he discussed ways of writing for television.
