Carol Vorderman

Carol Vorderman was born in 1960 and was raised in Prestatyn, North Wales . She attended St Mary's Primary School and Blessed Edward Jones High School in Rhyl before graduating with a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Engineering at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge.

In 1982 Carol, who has an IQ of 154, launched her TV career by appearing on Countdown as the number's girl, calculating complicated mathematical problems. Despite presenting other shows such as Tomorrow's World , What Will They Think of Next and Dream House , Carol is still working on Countdown, currently with new presenter Des Lynam after Richard Whitley passed away.

Carol also used to write a column in The Daily Telegraph and The Daily Mirror and she has had several books published including Dirty Loud and Brilliant (science experiments for children), and Carol Vorderman's Guide to The Internet. As well as releasing numerous diet books and videos, she has also had several Maths videos released. Carol is now the face of the new maths Craze, Sudoku.

Carol received an MBE from the Queens Birthday honours list in 2000 and said "These are two consonants and a vowel I am very proud of."
