Dr Kevin Mundy is Chief Operating Officer and University Secretary at Bangor University. This role provides leadership to all professional service departments and reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor. A key priority for the role is to ensure all professional services work in partnership with the academic domain in effective and efficient ways to deliver the University’s strategic objectives. He chairs the Heath, Safety & Emergency Management Task Group, the Human Resources Task Group and the Compliance Task Group. He is also a Director of the Office of the Independent Adjudicator, the North West Wales Management Development Centre Ltd and Undeb Trading, and a member of the Tir na Nog Operating Board.
Dr Mundy received a B.Sc. degree in Molecular Biophysics and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Leeds in 1993 and 1997 respectively. Prior to arriving in Bangor in 2002, he worked at the Universities of Leeds and Sheffield in a number of administrative roles including student administration and strategic planning. He was initially appointed to the post of Director of Planning and he took on the additional role of University Secretary in 2014. In 2017, he was appointed Director of Corporate Services and his responsibilities included governance and compliance, planning, human resources, quality assurance, sustainability, strategic partnerships and communications. The role was expanded in 2020 to include all professional services.
