GCSE requirements in English and Mathematics for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
You should be aware that all courses in Wales leading to QTS require a B grade in both Mathematics and English Language at GCSE. If you have not achieved a B grade, we accept equivalent qualifications such as AS levels and IGCSEs (click here for a complete list of acceptable equivalents) and we also accept a B grade gained in the GCSE equivalence tests provided by Bangor and Aberystwyth Universities. Applicants wishing to undertake the equivalency test must already have a grade C at GCSE standard. Should you be successful and accept your place in Bangor to study for QTS on any course, fees paid for the test will be refunded to you by the University (up to a maximum of one test in each subject). Further details about equivalency test can be found here.
