As project manager for the Darwin Initiative project Orchid Seed Stores for Sustainable Use (OSSSU), Phil has travelled the world extensively looking at a range of orchid conservation projects. He will examine the factors leading to declining orchid populations in their natural habitats, and describe a number of successful reintroduction projects integrating both ex-situ and in-situ techniques. He will discuss how universities and botanic gardens can make a positive contribution to orchid conservation in the UK.
