Friday 15 September, 7.30pm

Bruna Lupoli was maid, housekeeper and companion to the great soprano Maria Callas for nearly twenty years. The woman known as “the soprano of the century” led a life as full of passion and drama as the operatic roles she portrayed.

In the one-act presentation of “Life with the Signora”, Bruna reminisces on the later years of Callas’ life, reflecting on the downward spiral in her career and personal life which led to her early death in September 1977.

Bruna’s reminiscences are illustrated by performances of arias from Maria Callas’ greatest roles – arias which mirror the tragedy and drama of her life. (Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La Traviata…)

Anne Williams-King, herself a soprano of international stature who has sung many of Callas’ operatic roles all over the world, portrays the diva with former Covent Garden singer and vocal coach Marian Bryfdir as Bruna Lupoli.

Written and directed by Jamie-Glyn Bale. With Anne Williams-King as Maria Callas and Marian Bryfdir as Bruna Lupoli. Sung in Welsh and Italian, with some English.
