With increasing awareness of the need to consider measures of student attainment in the wider sector, we can use Arque reports to identify problematic modules. Whilst moderation of marks can be employed as an emergency measure to rectify problems for a particular cohort of students, in the longer term what is really needed is diagnosis and treatment of the underlying problems. Very often these are related to assessments.

This workshop will help you to consider potential problems with assessment, which might lead to mean module marks which are either too high or too low. We will consider different types of assessment, and the potential advantages and disadvantages of each. 

The session will be led by the CELT retention team: Dr Rosanna Robinson and Dr Dave Perkins.
