Tanya has over 17 years of experience in microbiology of petroleum biodegradation, metagenomics technologies and microbial taxonomy. Before joining Bangor she worked with Prof Ken Timmis at the German National Centre for Biotechnology, Technische Universität Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig and HZI-Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Braunschweig (Germany).

Currently, she leads the Bangor Uni research on marine oil-degrading microbial communities in frames of EU FP7 Projects ‘Kill-Spill’ http://www.killspill.eu/  and ‘MAGIC PAH’   http://www.magicpah.org/
