Katie obtained her masters in Geological Oceanography right here at Bangor University in 2015, before going on to complete a PGCE in secondary geography at Reading University. After teaching in secondary schools for 3 years, she has returned to Bangor to complete her PhD in Physical Oceanography, with a focus on shelf sea carbon chemistry. Teaching is a huge passion of hers, which allowed her to get involved with the Brilliant Club as a tutor, and with STEM as a learning ambassador. She’s now a tutor at BUIC, teaching the Physics 1 and 2 modules.
Due to her geology background, she has an extensive rock and fossil collection, which students may be able to spot some of in the background during her lessons! She has a passion for baking lots of sweet treats, but thankfully she also loves walking and set herself a challenge to walk 100 miles every month in 2021! So far, so good!
One thing I like about BUIC
She loves that BUIC brings people from all over the world together at Bangor University.
