About MDIS

MDIS Tashkent is a Bangor University partner (since 2013) who deliver degree programmes validated by Bangor University. 

MDIS Tashkent is a joint venture owned by Management Development Institute of Singapore, founded in 1956, MDIS is one of Singapore’s oldest institutes for lifelong learning and is one of its largest institutions, with over 12,500 students. 

MDIS is EduTrust certified, attesting the institute’s exemplary education and business excellence standards. This certification was first awarded in 2010 and subsequently renewed for a further four years in 2018.

Courses

MDIS-Tashkent offer the following ‘Bangor Award’ 3-year undergraduate degree programmes:

  • BSc Banking & Finance
  • BSc Business Economics
  • BSc Finance, Investment and Risk
  • BSc Industrial Management
  • BSc International Hospitality and Tourism Management
  • BSc Applied Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Management
  • BSc Computer Information Systems for Business

 

There is an articulation agreement in place for the validated programmes to give entry onto Bangor Business School programmes here at Bangor University.

These all have a 1+2 onto any Bangor Business School BSc degree programme:

  • BSc Banking and Finance
  • BSc Business Economics
  • BSc Finance, Investment and Risk
  • BSc Industrial Management

Then are also the following '2+1' options available:

  • Tashkent Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Banking and Finance to Year 3 Bangor University BSc Banking and Finance
  • Tashkent Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Economics to Year 3 Bangor University BSc Financial Economics

BSc Banking & Finance

Banking and financial services is a highly competitive and rapidly changing sector in every modern economy. Participants gain a deeper understanding of banking and finance by examining policy instruments, the dichotomy between business theory and practice. Provides a route forward to develop a career within the banking and finance sector. Equips participants with the ability to apply knowledge to practical problems in business with the view to enhance originality and contribution to business world.

BSc Business Economics

This Business Economics degree offers the opportunity to combine a core programme of study in economics with a wide selection of optional modules in business, finance and management. With the inclusion of a core microeconomics and macroeconomics component, and a specialism focusing on the economic context of business decision making, students will develop an awareness of applications of economics in areas including business management, finance and public policy. This programme will appeal to anyone seeking to study economic issues at local, national and international levels. Participants will develop practical skills in business, finance and management that are attractive to employers in the private and public sectors.

BSc Finance, Investment and Risk

This programme provides theopportunity to gain a deeper understanding of finance and investment by examining business theory and practice and policy instruments. It provides a route forward to developing a career within the finance and investment sector. Partcipants will gain skills and the ability to apply knowledge to practical problems in business with the view towards enhancing originality and contribution to the business world.

BSc Industrial Management

This programme is suited to those seking a deeper understanding of industrial operation and management. This course incorporates the foundation disciplines of business and management, economics, accounting, statistical methods and information systems which relate to the key aspects of business and management functions. Amongst topics covered are marketing, small business management, communications and decision making in its major contexts, together with practices, issues and application of models, frameworks and analytical tools. This programme seeks to equip participants with the ability to apply knowledge to practical management problems.

BSc International Hospitality and Tourism Management

Gain a deeper understanding of hospitality and tourism industries by examining relevant theory and practice, and policy instruments. this course provides participants with a route forward to develop their career within the hospitality and tourism industry, and is suited to those seeking to work in this area. Understand the ‘real world’ through the use of relevant data, information and varied assessment methods.

BSc Computer Information Systems for Business

This programme provides knowledge and understanding of the broad area of Computer Information Systems (CIS) and business processes. Particpants will appreciate the breadth of CIS applications and business processes and an understanding of common approaches to application architecture and development. They will develop skills in business finance, economics and marketing and an ability to formulate and analyze requirements and practical constraints of CIS computer systems. In addition students will learn to: assess and choose optimal methods and approaches for specification, design, implementation and evaluation of computer-based systems and business information systems; gain an understanding of key business models, processes, regulations and procedures; specify, design, construct and operate computer-based systems including programming; and, recognize risks or safety aspects in computer systems and business processes.
