Why choose Bangor?
If you’re looking for a place for this September, then you’re probably searching for an established, highly ranked university that can offer you academic excellence, plenty of support and a friendly, student-centred place to live and study. Bangor University can offer you all that – and more!
Rated Gold in the TEF
We have been awarded a Gold rating, the highest possible, in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). We were judged to deliver consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for our students and our teaching is of the highest quality found in the UK.
As well as excellent teaching our students also have a high level of student satisfaction; we were ranked amongst the top 10 universities in the UK for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2017.
Guaranteed accommodation for Clearing students
Our accommodation was voted the best in the UK at the What Uni Student Choice Awards 2018. All of our halls of residence are of a high standard and are around 10–15 minutes’ walk from the main University buildings. We have approximately 3,000 rooms available in halls and Clearing applicants who apply before the deadline are guaranteed a place in halls.
Unrivalled location, with great transport links
Bangor’s location, with the sea on one side and the Snowdonia mountains on the other, makes it one of the most attractive study locations in the UK. And, with excellent transport links, we’re less than two hours from Liverpool and Manchester, just over three hours by train from central London and a two hour ferry ride away from Dublin.
We hold a number of Visit Days for Clearing applicants and if you do decide to accept a place with us through Clearing, we'll pay towards your travel expenses to join us on a Visit Day.
You can find out more about our upcoming Clearing Visit Days here.
A friendly, student-centred place to study
Bangor’s size and friendly nature make it easy to get to know people and our students settle in quickly. An on-going investment in facilities, such as the Pontio centre and the newly refurbished Canolfan Brailsford Sports Centre, is further enhancing the Bangor student experience.
Hear it from our students...
I’m so glad that everything turned out well in the end and I loved my time in Bangor. I’m sad to be leaving Bangor, with its lovely beaches and mountains, and the life I’ve made for myself here.Cyan Williams
