Why choose Bangor?

If you’re looking for a place for this September, then you’re probably searching for an established, highly ranked university that can offer you academic excellence, plenty of support and a friendly, student-centred place to live and study. Bangor University can offer you all that – and more!

Rated Gold in the TEF

We have been awarded a Gold rating, the highest possible, in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). We were judged to deliver consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for our students and our teaching is of the highest quality found in the UK.

As well as excellent teaching our students also have a high level of student satisfaction; we were ranked amongst the top 10 universities in the UK for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey 2019.

Guaranteed accommodation

If you come to Bangor through Clearing, you'll be guaranteed a rooom in our halls of residence, as long as you apply by the deadline. All of our accommodation is of a high standard and within walking distance of the main University buildings and the city centre. Halls are self-catered and most of our rooms have private bathrooms.

Our accommodation was voted the third best in the UK at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2019.

Unrivalled location, with great transport links

Our location, with the sea on one side and the Snowdonia mountains on the other, makes us one of the most attractive study locations in the UK. And, with excellent transport links, we’re less than two hours from Liverpool and Manchester, just over three hours by train from central London and a two hour ferry ride away from Dublin.

Hear it from our students

The administration side of it was really easy and everyone was really helpful! They made the whole registration process simple and stress free as well as ensuring I got the accommodation that I wanted.

Visiting us

We're holding a number of Virtual Visit Days for Clearing applicants. You can find out more about them here.

A friendly, student-centred place to study

Bangor’s size and friendly nature make it easy to get to know people and our students settle in quickly. An on-going investment in facilities, such as the Pontio centre and the newly refurbished Canolfan Brailsford Sports Centre, is further enhancing the Bangor student experience.
