Bangor’s best raise the bar once again

Bangor University has cemented its reputation as a centre of weightlifting excellence as student athletes broke numerous records at the Welsh Senior Weightlifting Championships recently.

Held at the University’s Sport Centre on 2 March, the Championships saw two athletes competing for national glory on home turf at Canolfan Brailsford. Catrin Jones and Michael Farmer, both Sport Scholarship Athletes, took home Gold Medals in their various disciplines and between them broke Welsh Senior and British U20 records.

Catrin, a student at the School of Psychology, went on to break the U23 Clean and Jerk record, and equalled the British U23 record total for her weight class.
