Bangor University teaching awarded highest rating
Bangor University has achieved a Gold Award, the highest rating possible, in the national Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). Bangor University is the only university in Wales to achieve this standard.
The TEF assessment took into account teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes and learning gain. We were judged to deliver consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for our students and our teaching is of the highest quality found in the UK.
The TEF review highlighted that students from all backgrounds achieve consistently outstanding outcomes. It found some of our strongest areas to be;

Teaching & Research Excellence
Bangor’s teaching excellence is mirrored by the University’s results in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, which found that more than three-quarters of our research is world-leading or internationally significant. Bangor University is in the top 20 of UK universities who offer excellence in both teaching and research (Times Higher Education, June 22, 2017)
Student Satisfaction amongst the best in the UK
Other recent successes include Bangor University being amongst the top 15 universities in the UK for student satisfaction, according to the National Student Survey 2016.
Our clubs and societies were also voted the best in the UK at the What Uni Student Choice Awards 2017 and Bangor was placed third overall in the University of the Year category, as well as being in third place in the 'Courses and Lecturers' and 'Giving Back' categories.
