Bangor University teaching awarded highest rating

Bangor University has achieved a Gold Award, the highest rating possible, in the national Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

The TEF assessment took into account teaching quality, learning environment and student outcomes and learning gain. We were judged to deliver consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for our students and our teaching is of the highest quality found in the UK.

We were amongst the first set of universities, and the only one in Wales, to be awarded Gold in 2017. This means our teaching is of the highest quality in the UK.

The TEF review highlighted that students from all backgrounds achieve consistently outstanding outcomes. It found some of our strongest areas to be;

Teaching & Research Excellence

Bangor’s teaching excellence is mirrored by the University’s results in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, which found that more than three-quarters of our research is world-leading or internationally significant.

Student Satisfaction amongst the best in the UK

Other recent successes include Bangor University being amongst the top 10 universities in the UK for student satisfaction, according to the National Student Survey 2019.

Our clubs and societies were voted the best in the UK at the What Uni Student Choice Awards 2019. Our halls of residence were voted best in the UK for quality of accommodation at the What Uni Student Choice Awards 2018.
