- JXH-3001: Research Project (40) (Semester 1 + 2) The aim of this module is to allow studnets to complete a research project in an area of mutual agreement with their supervisor in the school of sport, health and exercise sciences. Students will have the opportunity to produce an original piece of research work and integrate knowledge and skills developed previously durning the course at undergraduate level (e.g. research methods).or

- JXH-3031: Stress & Performance (10) (Semester 1) The module explores research and theoretical standpoints within the field of stress and performance. Real life stress and performance case studies that the lecturer has encountered with athletes will be explored at depth within the module content. Class time will consist of a combination of lectures, individual exercises, group discussions and formative assignment practice.or

- JXH-3034: Personality & Ind Diffs (10) (Semester 2) Early theories (psychodynamic theories and derivaties) and later theories of personality, including different methods of assessment and application, self theories (e.g., self determination, self discrepancy), the Big Five, the Giant Three; specific personality traits (e.g., neuroticism, narcissism, perfectionism, optimism) in relation to sport and exercise performance; body-centre personality theories and their relation to sprot and exercise performance and health; "high-risk" sports, including affect/emotion regulation and individual differences in sensation seeking and risk-taking.
- JXH-3037: App Sport Sci of Elite Perf (10) (Semester 2) This module will include: Training theory and advanced training techniques of the elite performer; Physiological assessment of performers; Issues in doping in elite performance; Preparation for competition.
- JXH-3039: Environmental Physiology (10) (Semester 1) This module aims to develop students¿ understanding of the effect of environmental extremes on the physiological responses to exercise and the effects of environmental extremes on exercise performance. The module will focus particularly on physiological responses to exercise performed in hot, cold, deep sea and microgravity (space flight) conditions.
- JXH-3047: Disability Sport & Rehab (10) (Semester 2)
- JXH-3050: Skill Acquisition (10) (Semester 2) Class time will consist of a combination of lectures, individual exercises and group discussions.
- JXH-3055: Biochemistry of Exercise (10) (Semester 1) This course will introduce into Biochemistry and especially in metabolic pathways and their interaction in different tissues with focus on exercise response. Knowledge will be provided on how metabolism is regulated on the cellular and systemic levels. Students will learn how nutrition and exercise will impact metabolism acutely and chronically. Connection between metabolic processes and health and training outcomes will be addressed. This module is important for all students seeking improved insight in Physiology and Nutrition. Students who are aiming for a Nutrition-MSc are highly advised to select this module. Biochemistry might be compulsory for their future studies. Basic biochemical techniques will be explained and trained during the course.
- JXH-4002: Performance Psychology (20) (Semester 1) Group cohesion; Collective efficacy; Leadership; Goals. Catastrophe models; Processing efficiency theory; Conscious processing hypothesis; Ironic effect theory; Attention control theory.
- JXH-4007: Performance Physio (20) (Semester 1 + 2) Part A (Semester 1) will commence by reviewing the link between physiology and physical performance. This is followed by detailed examination of endurance activities with emphasis on muscle oxygenation and metabolism and the implications for fatigue. A final consideration will be some alternative models of fatigue in endurance activities. Part B (Semester 2) examines some of the other factors that exert a major influence on performance, such as basic and applied aspects of strength and power, and alterations in immune function.
