We are Undeb Bangor. We are Bangor University’s Students’ Union. ‘Undeb’ means union in Welsh; we call ourselves Undeb Bangor as we are very proud of our Welsh roots.
Our events during Welcome Week are focused on getting you settled and ensuring you are able to meet people and understand how you can get involved with Undeb Bangor during your time here. We are the home of Bangor students and we work to amplify your voice, set up opportunities and develop your community. A team of Sabbatical Officers leads Undeb Bangor. This year’s team was elected in March 2019 and will represent you for a full academic year having started their role in July 2019. You will come across our Sabbatical Officers during Welcome Week, don’t be afraid to talk to them, they’re a friendly bunch and are here to represent you!
Undeb Bangor is located on the 4th floor of the Pontio building (number 43 on the map on page 25) and is a one-stop shop for information, advice and guidance as well as an area for you to chill out. We have an area with a kettle and microwave for you to heat and eat your food (especially handy if you are a home student and you travel in every day). We also have a book-swap scheme, some comfy chairs and a few computers.
As the home of Bangor students we run the Sports Clubs, Societies, Volunteering Projects, UMCB (Welsh Union), Undeb Bangor Course Reps and Undeb Bangor Council. You can find information about all of these activities when you visit the Students’ Union Freshers Fair, Serendipity.
Visit Serendipity at Canolfan Brailsford (the gym on Ffriddoedd Village) at 11am on Wednesday 18th of September. If you don’t like large crowds and loud noises we have a quiet hour between 10am and 11am. We have over 60 sports clubs, over 120 societies and over 50 volunteering projects and they’ll all be at Serendipity. The best thing is that membership is free here at Bangor. That’s not all, come along to get some freebies and information from local and national, businesses and charities and meet some of the University Support Services.
Taking part in student opportunities is a fantastic way to make friends, meet new people and try something new. It’ll also look good on your CV when the time comes to find a job. The more you do the more you get out.
Our website www.UndebBangor.com has all the information you need for Welcome Week and it’ll give you a taste of what you can expect from us throughout the year.
Why not follow us on our social media platforms and you’ll get to know about all the great things we do year-round.
