  • I will submit my PhD thesis in September 2017. I have been researching the development of an active offer for planned home birth


  • I am the Year 2 lead on the Bachelor of Midwifery under-graduate programme
  • On completion of my PhD I will lead on the post-graduate module ‘Optimising the childbirth experience’

Clinical specialism / link tutor role

  • I am Link Tutor for the WEST of BCUHB and so support students during their placements in Ysbyty Gwynedd and the surrounding community areas


  • I was awarded a small grant of £8,000 by the North Wales Clinical School in 2010, and conducted a mixed-methods study exploring the provision of home birth in North Wales
  • In 2011 I was awarded a Bangor University 125 PhD Scholarship
  • In 2012 I presented my initial PhD findings to the RCM conference
  • In October 2017 I will make a poster presentation of my overall PhD findings at the RCM conference
