MENTAL HEALTH NURSING, YEAR 1

Samantha Greenwood - hbu68f@bangor.ac.uk

Hi guys I’m Sam, (or Samantha when I’m naughty) a first year Mental Health Student Nurse, I’m 33, a mum to 2 amazing children and I live locally. As my age and picture suggests, I’m a ‘mature’ (if you met me you might disagree with that title) student who started my educational journey late, on an access course at Coleg Menai back in 2009. I originally planned to go into teaching, but fell in love with psychology and enrolled on a psychology degree here at Bangor. Once I graduated in 2014 I realised that my psych degree hadn’t equipped me with the skills, knowledge and, well qualifications, that I needed to get the jobs I was applying for. And so here I am. I have a keen interest in substance misuse and recovery, ex-forces and their family’s mental well-being and life after a mental illness diagnosis. I love a good chat on current issues surrounding mental health and psychology and I’m always happy to help a friend in need.

Contact details are hbu68f@bangor.ac.uk or 07712683077

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING, YEARS 2 AND 3

Michael Glyn Jones - hsu7b6@bangor.ac.uk

Hello, my name is Michael Glyn Jones, and I am currently in my second year of Mental Health Nursing. Having been born in Bangor and raised on Anglesey, I can proudly call myself a local. I am fluent in both English and Welsh and happy to communicating in either language. I'm 28 years old, and would rather class myself as being 'experienced in life' rather than a 'mature student'!

I come from a healthcare background, as I previously worked for NHS between 2008 and 2012 before successfully completing an access course and earning myself a place at Bangor University. Both my parents are also from a nursing background, so you could say it was inevitable for me to start studying towards a nursing degree!

I can be reached through my University email address: hsu7b6@bangor.ac.uk, or through my personal email address: mike87jones@hotmail.com. I check both daily, so you should get a fairly swift reply. If you'd rather chat to me over the phone, or face to face, drop me an email and I'd be happy to arrange something with you.

CHILDREN'S NURSING

Toni Clare Woodcock - hsu699@bangor.ac.uk

Hello, my name is Toni Woodcock and I am in cohort 2/14. I am currently training to be a children's nurse. I am 24 years old and was born in Manchester.

I previously worked as a Foundation Phase Assistant on Anglesey. I began to gain NVQ qualifications, and received my first aid training. This experience introduced my peaked interest in becoming a children's nurse.  I am a keen outdoor enthusiast and have worked on Anglesey assisting in teaching kayaking, co-steering and body boarding.

I love to seek new challenges.  I currently live in Holyhead, with my fiancé, and attend both Bangor and Wrexham campuses.
