Emergency Procedures & Fire Safety Training
Covers the role of individuals during emergency evacuations and gives practical, hands on training in the use and different types of fire extinguishers provided at the University.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not offer courses to non-Bangor University staff.
Who should participate?
This practical session is suitable for all staff who would like to develop their understanding of fire and want to experience a hands on go with fire extinguishers.
The aim of the workshop
To explain the emergency procedures and demonstrate and explain the use of extinguishers.

At the end of the sesion you should be able to:
- Develop a practical approach to fire prevention
- Understand the use and recognise the limitations of fire extinguishers
- Reduce the danger and risk from fire with an effective emergency response
Content
Introduction to the concept of the fire triangle
What is fire prevention, how can we help stop unwanted fires from happening
How to ensure a safe and effective evacuation
Know what to do in the event of a fire and how and when to use an extinguisher
Appreciating the differences and limitations of fire extinguishers

90 minutes
Learning Methods
Interactive lecture and practical demonstration with participation.
A practical and lively session with an opportunity to consider the theory and apply your learning within a small group.
