Equality & Diversity for Managers

Session Aim

To give managers the opportunity to examine and discuss key ideas and best practice in Managing Equality and Diversity within the context of their roles.

Session Overview

Over recent years an up-to-date knowledge of Equality and Diversity legislation has become increasingly important for managers at all levels. This interactive course aims not only to give participants a background to current equality legislation within Higher Education, but an opportunity through scenario based discussion to explore the potential impact on the day-to-day work of a manager.  Exercises to consider personal prejudices and stereotypes are embedded throughout the session.

This course will help participants to:

  • examine the concepts of discrimination, equality and diversity,

  • consider the impact on a personal and organisational level,

  • gain an overview of the Equality Act 2010 and

  • explore prejudice, stereotyping and personal values.

Benefits of Attending

This workshop is part of a long established programme of equality training for managers at Bangor University and is appropriate for managers in Colleges and Departments who are yet to attend a session as part of their role as a manager or who wish to refresh their current knowledge about the subject area.
